Ulladulla this Sunday - December 9th

This regatta is now held by Dragon Boats NSW and is not called ULLADULLA SUMMER GAMES anymore - only change is 'management'. Venue, people, weather - everything else still the same!

Help us defend our title! We do not have a full team yet for this w/e and welcome hearing from you! Come along and join in the fun! We can train you at short notice or if you haven't trained for awhile we can get you moving again.

PENRITH REGATTA

The weather was perfect, the water was like a millpond and people were arriving in droves! We were off to a late start on Sunday morning due to a previous triathlon booking, thus delaying our starting time slightly. At one stage we were about 40min behind schedule so the days racing actually finished quite late compared to other regattas - thank you for everyones patience.

We had 18 paddlers turn up from Sandy Point to compete in the 'Premier Mixed' team. In our 1st heat, our race result was not very good, so we put it down to a 'bad morning' and quickly moved on. In heat 2, our performance improved but not enough to get into the finals -. RACE OVER - FINISHED FOR THE DAY. However, for the ladies it was another matter. Nowra invited us to join forces to make up a 'masters womens' crew and we willingly accepted. With10 ladies (incl Dana as drummer) we paddled with Nowra and came away with a shared trophy for 2nd place. WELL DONE LADIES!!! THIS WAS OUR FIRST WIN AS A WOMENS CREW.

Hi everyone, we're back!!!

We have been a tad busy over these past months but the pressure is off now and we are looking forward to the upcoming season. I have been asked to send around upcoming race dates to see if we can get some teams together as we have some very keen paddlers ready to hit the water after their training through winter plus others wishing to become involved again.

SUNDAY 21ST OCTOBER @ 9AM?? ROSEVILLE

TWILIGHT PADDLE - SATURDAY 17TH NOV @ 4PM (Sandy Pt social dance same night, however if we don't get locked in the compound again we can make it back for the dance)

SUNDAY 2ND DEC - PENRITH 200M

ULLADULLA SATURDAY 8TH DEC 200M (need to defend our title, hear Nowra have been practicing to knock us off!!!!)

All memberships are due to expire on 1st November so we need to get everyone registered asap.

1ST & 2ND PLACES FOR JUNIOR WOMENS NOW HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY OF GOING ON TO REPRESENT AUSTRALIA AT THE WORLD TITLES BEING HELD THIS YEAR AT PENRITH IN SEPTEMBER - CONGRATULATIONS DANA & LAUREN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Once again we would like to thank everyone for their support over these past weeks and a big thank you to our volunteers who put in a huge day manning their posts with very few breaks - Dennis, Charlie, Phyllis, Peter Junghans, Cheryl, Gloria, Ryan, & Dave - fantastic response from Sandy Point.

And to our cheer squad who never let us down ; our thanks to Barbara, Robyn (who managed to go to the airport in between races), Julie & Neil, Jan & grand daughter, Val, Marea, Vic & Brett B.

p.s. Dana, Lauren, Rhys & Ben are still racing over this weekend with the Junior team competing in club races. GOOD LUCK

THE STATE TILES

Now that Ulladulla & CNY races have finished, we can concrentrate on our next race -

STATE TITLES
24TH MARCH 2007 AT PENRITH
(also election day)

We have entered 2 teams
1 x premier open
1 x masters mixed

Entry: $15 - Starting time: early (8am)

This is an opportunity for everyone to compete particularly those who missed out at CNY! With only 10 training sessions left we need to start orgainising seating and teams now & your co-orperation in coming along to training would help us greatly.

Ryan has offered to sweep/train the Premiers - thanks Ryan

The rest of us in the masters will have Sarge (Pete) & Vic - (what a challange)

This may well be the last of the races for the season, so come along and compete with the Sandy Point Dragons!

Don't forget election day, think about a postal vote or pre-poll voting

SANDY POINT DRAGONS 1ST PLACE AT ULLADULLA REGATTA

Congratulations to those who attended Sundays regatta and help retain out title for the second year in a row! The weather was perfect and our team was on fire!!!! We came 1st in all three heats and then we lined up for the finals - Ben Kalgovas as our sweep and Mark Harley taking his place as our drummer - our race start was absolutely awesome, heads down and we paddled our little hearts out! WE WON THE FINALS!

I am still waiting on the times to be emailed from Melanie as I know some of you like playing around with numbers!

Congratulations also to Ryan who has now completed his fourth race as a 'p' sweep and is now accredited.

This year due to funding issues the winning clubs received a trophy and ours was graciously accepted by Ryan.

Anyone wishing to take home the trophy for a week or so please let me know and I will arrange a time with you. At the moment the trophy is visiting the Kalgovas family for a few days and then will travel down the street to the Warwick household where I'm sure it will be fussed over by Debra and the girls.
